2008 AHAUCHI CONFERENCE IN MELBOURNE
It is my great pleasure on behalf of the Heads of Colleges at the University of Melbourne to invite you to the 2008 AHAUCHI Conference to be hosted by the Melbourne Heads.
The theme of the conference will be “Diversity and Equity in Australian Higher Education”.
2008 is a significant year for The University of Melbourne with its much publicised Melbourne Model to be introduced. This is a bold move by the University, and will have implications for the Colleges. Its implementation is one of the reasons for the first part of our theme – diversity. Concern about the ever increasing costs of higher education and data about the socio-economic status of university students across the country prompts the second part of our theme. We believe that matters associated with access and equity are of concern to all who work in this sector.
Following the example of the Sydney colleges, the Melbourne conference sessions, meals and most social functions will be hosted in our Colleges which are a distinctive feature of the University of Melbourne, and all of which are located within walking distance of the University and within easy reach of the CBD.
We look forward to welcoming you to Melbourne for the 2008 AHAUCHI conference.
